HVAC technicians install, repair, and maintain the heating and cooling system in homes. Approximately 55 percent of HVAC technicians found employment with contractors of air conditioning, plumbing and heating. They also work in schools, repair shops, government buildings, schools etc.

Salary

HVAC technicians earned an average annual salary of around $45,830 in 2012. The bottom 10% earned $27,330 while the top 10% earned $68,990. There are several factors that influence HVAC technician salary. This includes experience, certification, location, industry, etc.

The industry of top employment are building equipment contractors, which hired 167,370 HVAC technicians, paying on average $44,700. The top paying industry is wired telecommunications carriers, paying $67,190 on average. The top paying state is Alaska at $63,370.
